Alan Keyes: Marriage Equality is a Crime Against Humanity

alan_keyesDeranged wingnut, former Reagan diplomat, and perennial political candidate Alan Keyes went on Stan Solomon’s right-wing talk show to discuss marriage equality.

Needless to say, it was a rather ideologically lopsided conversation, with Solomon comparing homosexuality to drug abuse, drunk driving, and swimming with sharks, and whipping out Paul Cameron’s discredited anti-gay junk talking points about how gays have shorter lifespans.

Keyes, who kicked his daughter out of the house after she came out as a lesbian, excoriated Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman for embracing marriage equality after learning his son is gay:

If you go down a road that satisfies your personal predilections and relationships and sacrifices the common good of the country, including the elementary institution by which civilization is sustained, then you’re not only derelict in your public duty, you are abandoning your obligation as a human being.

Keyes also referred to same-sex marriage as a “crime against humanity” — and not just your run-of-the-mill crime against humanity like, say, genocide or torture or sexual slavery, but the crime against humanity:

Frankly, people throw around words like ‘crime against humanity,’ I think that kind of disregard for the God-endowed natural rights of human being is the archetype of all crimes against humanity, and I think we have an entire elite faction that is now committed to committing such a crime against the American people.

That is quite a heaping load of hog wallow he’s wrapped his personal and father failure in. His first quote could be said against him for casting his child away(probably has). Can Keyes really afford to wage his animus against childless heterosexual couples and attain relevance? I think not.

What do you think?
