Video of the Day: Thomas Roberts on What Marriage Equality Means to Him

thomas_roberts_scotusLast week, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8, considering for the first time whether or not same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry.

I had the privilege of being in Washington, D.C. on those days, attending and helping with marriage equality rallies in front of the Supreme Court. As I wrote last week, it was both an electrifying and humbling experience — truly monumental.

News anchor Thomas Roberts was in town covering the events for MSNBC. At the prompting of Cycle co-host Touré, Roberts momentarily took off his professional hat and discussed what marriage equality means to him and his husband Patrick, whom he married last September.
